What standards exist for creating universally designed robots?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a follow up to our previous project on Universal Design of Robots. Previously we looked at academic literature for developing a method for evaluating the accessibility of a social robot. Now, we wish to look at what standards are available that would also apply to creating accessible and universally designed robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social robots in public spaces<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our method for looking at standards is based on a method that was created for examining standards in Germany social robots in public spaces. We wish to build on this method by focusing on standards that apply in Norway and apply to a different context of a social robot in a daycare or a special school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we expect to some similarities, we also expect to find Norwegian standards that may need to be considered in these contexts. We would also potentially update our evaluation technique from the previous project. Finally, we would like to share our results in different venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected deliverables:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A list of standards that need to be considered for universal design when designing a robot in a Norwegian context.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A list of requirements that use the \u201cunified equality requirement descriptions\u201d for a universally designed social robot in the context of a robot at a special school or a daycare center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A comparison of our lists of standards and requirements with the lists generated in the German context.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. An update to our evaluation method with a description of how well it can help with the requirements found in D2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Scientific articles describing the research to allow verification by other researchers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
